Vegan Barbecue Tofu Steaks

Why this?
This Vegan Barbecue Tofu Steak recipe is a delightful twist on traditional barbecue, tailored for those following a vegan diet. Perfectly suited for dinner, it brings the smoky, savory flavors of a barbecue without any animal products. The combination of smoked paprika and a tangy, sweet marinade complements the firm texture of tofu, making it a satisfying main dish.

Ingredients:

400 grams of firm tofu
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon mustard
Salt to taste

Preparation Steps:

  • Drain and press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess water. Cut into 1/2 inch thick steaks.
  • In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, black pepper, apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, maple syrup, mustard, and salt to create the barbecue marinade.
  • Marinate the tofu steaks in the barbecue sauce for at least one hour, or overnight for more flavor.
  • Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat. Brush with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Grill the marinated tofu steaks for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they have nice grill marks and are heated through.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or alongside your favorite vegan sides.
